The Orthodox Calendar App

The app is not released yet, and there is no app-store listing to point you to. What exists today is this website: a full Orthodox calendar, free, with no account required. The app will add the one thing a website cannot do — reach you at the moment the fast begins.

What the app is being built to do

Daily fasting reminders

A morning notification with the day's fasting level and what may be eaten, so Wednesday and Friday are never a surprise and the start of each of the four fasts arrives with warning.

Saints of the day

The commemorations of the day in your pocket, with the longer lives available to read — the same content as the site's lives of the saints.

Pascha and year planning

Pascha, Great Lent, Holy Week, Ascension and Pentecost for coming years, so travel, fasting and family plans can be made months ahead rather than week by week.

New Calendar / Old Calendar clarity

One setting, kept consistently everywhere: choose the Revised Julian reckoning used by most Greek, Antiochian, Romanian and OCA parishes, or the Old Calendar kept by the Russian, Serbian and Georgian Churches and Mount Athos. The paschal cycle is shared by both — the reasoning is documented on the methodology page.

What is already available, free, on this site

• Today's fast, feast and saints, with the New/Old Calendar toggle and the daily scripture readings.
• Month, day and full-year calendars — for example the 2027 calendar and the 2027 fasting calendar.
• The paschalion through 2050 and the full fasting rules.
• An akathist library and a parish directory for the United States, Canada and Australia.
